Magdalena Orellana (born in Buenos Aires in 1990) trained at the University of Design, Architecture and Town Planning in Buenos Aires, and studied Documentary Film at the ECAM - the Madrid Audiovisual and Film School. During that time she became interested in other media such as photography and graphic design. She participated with the UnionDocs Collaborative Studio (New York) and other artistic residencies such as Artistas en Residencia (CA2M - La Casa Encendida) and V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media (Rotterdam) in conjunction with Hangar (Barcelona). She is a member of RIO (Buenos Aires), a self-managed editorial project with publications of the same name which focuses on collective editing, and Nuberu Bagu, an audiovisual group from Madrid which brings together artists and collaborators who share an interest in creating free and independent content. Some of her works have been shown at The Filmmakers’-Coop, Cine Estudio—Círculo de Bellas Artes, Cineteca, MediaLab Prado, BilbaoArte, CCCB, and Central Saint Martins. She has experimented with a number of different media, intentionally dismissing any possible distinction between fiction and non-fiction.
