(Re)visionando a Juan Carlos Eguillor

Juan Carlos Eguillor (1947-2011) was a multidisciplinary artist who spent most of his life working as a cartoonist and illustrator. His interest in bringing characters to life prompted him to experiment with video as an emerging creative tool. Although he made very few films, he is nevertheless an important figure in the history of videoart, and especially in the field of animation. Eguillor was a pioneer in the creation of electric computer-generated 3D images. His masterpiece, Menina (1986) triggered a technological and aesthetic revolution, and is considered the first audiovisual piece of its kind in Spain. As a result of the aesthetic and historical interest of this unknown artist and based on an initiative to preserve his entire audiovisual collection, this project aims to tell Eguillor’s story from an archivist perspective.
