After studying film for a few years at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Martín Álvarez decided to focus on film review and programming in that same city. From 2010 to 2017 he edited and wrote reviews for the magazine Cinéfilo and also worked as a programmer at the film society of the same name and as co-programmer for the Pasión de los Fuertes season, which specialises in classical films and forms part of the Hugo del Carril Municipal Film Society. From 2017 to 2019 he lived in Los Angeles, working since the middle of 2018 as an assistant at the Hugh M. Moving Hefner Archive at the University of Southern California, thus initiating his studies in the field of archive management.
