Julia Cortegana de la Fuente has a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Seville and a Master's in Cinematography from the University of Córdoba, and has engaged in work experience at the Andalusia Film Library, working on the restoration, conservation and archiving of Andalusian home movies in 9.5mm, 8mm and Super 8. She is a self-taught student of photochemical processes for developing analogue photographs, an activity she still engages in today and in which she has even taught some courses for the university. She is also very interested in film criticism and contemporary film research linked to political philosophy, earning top marks for her Master's graduation assignment on educational materialism and literature in the films of Vittorini de Straub-Huillet. She has sat on several youth juries (Punto de Vista, SEFF, Gijón), has collaborated with the magazine Lumiére and has taught several courses and seminars on feminist film, always adopting a participatory and self-managed approach. She is currently collaborating in a project aimed at setting up an online film archives for the non-industrial film sector.
