Amaranta Díaz (C03 (2020-2021))

Amaranta Díaz is a documentary maker and independent producer. She has a Master's in Documentary Film from the CUEC-UNAM, graduating with a dissertation entitled 'Transferencia de medios en México. Promedios de comunicación comunitaria en Chiapas - el cine documental del EZLN' (Media transfer in Mexico. Means of community communication in Chiapas – documentary films of the EZLN). She is Director of Industry and Training at MICGénero; and a member of the selection committee at the FEMME FILM REVOLUTION FESTIVAL. She is also the Executive Producer of DocsDF (now DocsMX) and has coordinated the 'Cine Entreculturas' section for several years now. She is Executive Producer of the Latin American Meeting of Film Writers (El Garfio) and a member of the Flaherty Seminar in Mexico. At IMCINE she was in charge of the Gabriel García Márquez Stimulus for Mexico and Central America-EMCDOCS, as well as the 'Cine en tu Comunidad en el Estado de Michoacán' project. She also formed part of the working team at the Filminlatino Platform. She was documentary coordinator at FICG and formed part of the Doculab team. She has taught several film and documentary creation workshops in indigenous communities, working also with migrant populations and those displaced by conflicts and situations of violence, thinking always about documentary production as a tool for collective, therapeutic and community transformation. She coordinates the Chair on Documentaries and the Master's in documentary creation at the EICTV.
