Maura Castanheira Grimaldi (2024-2025)

Maura Grimaldi moves between academic research and artistic practice, considering that their work contemplates different languages: photography, painting, drawing-design and writing, which predominantly circulate among the visual arts and, more recently, film. They were born in São Paulo (Brazil), where they earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in the area of Visual Arts at the Universidade de São Paulo. It was in the early years of their training that they began to develop his first artistic projects.

Among their exhibitions and relevant projects are the Iberian award “Support to Creation'22” of La Caixa Foundation (2022/2024), the Dear Doc Fellowship 2023 to participate in Doc's Kingdom - International Documentary Film Seminar (Portugal), the artistic residency in Geneva as part of the scholarship offered by Pro Helvetia / COINCIDENCIA South America / Swiss Art Council (Switzerland, 2021), the solo exhibition “The work appearing in your memory is not mine” at Galeria Virgílio (2018), the critical accompaniment program PIMASP coordinated by Adriano Pedrosa and Tobi Maier at MASP (Brazil, 2016/2017), the HANGAR residency in Lisbon (Portugal, 2017) and the XI Artistic Residency at Red Bull Station (Brazil, 2015).

They currently work as an artist and collaborates with other authors in the spheres of film, visual arts, dance and performance in processes of creation, cinematography and production of visual identity for projects, both in Brazil and Portugal.
