Nita Kruger Hidalgo (C08 (2025-2026))

Nita Kruger Hidalgo (1996) was born and raised in Xalapa, Veracruz (Mexico). After finishing high school, she continued her training in the audiovisual world, attending workshops and film theory courses. In 2014, she earned a diploma in Cinematography from the Luis Buñuel Film School in Veracruz, where she participated in several student short films in various different roles. Later on, she spent time in the Oaxaca Mountain Range as a member of a Travelling Audiovisual Camp, which was where she discovered her interest in community film and docu-fiction. In 2015 she directed her first short, Prodigal Son, which was shown at several festivals in Veracruz and Mexico City. That same year, she started a degree in Philosophy at the Autonomous Metropolitan University, doing her graduation thesis on feminist studies and new materialism. She then had a variety of jobs teaching English as a second language and doing oral/written translations. In 2022, she directed her second fictional short film, Primera Madre, this time winning a national prize for audiovisual media.
