Amir Shams is from Americana, Brazil. He studied architecture and urban planning at Escola da Cidade in São Paulo and earned a degree in filmmaking from Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts. He also studied at FAMU in Prague. In 2014, he was mentored by Abbas Kiarostami, and from 2019 to 2020, he was a resident filmmaker at the UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art in New York. His work has been showcased at venues including the Everson Museum of Art, UnionDocs, Centro Cultural São Paulo, and various public and private schools. He is currently in post-production on an experimental short and developing a feature film, currently going by the working title Temor e Tremor.
