ZINEBI Networking encounters
On 12 November, Bilbao AS Fabrik will present an update on the EQZE research project ‘ZINEBI Collection’, which aims to cast a critical gaze over the competition, catalogue its collection and design a plan to share its contents with the general public. Two years on, the project has already identified, inspected and catalogued two thirds of the festival’s collection, which totals over 300 films in 16 and 35 mm, as well as other materials.
At the same time, the research carried out has enabled the team to document other aspects, such as the importance of diplomatic relations during the early years of the festival, the relationship between the competition and censorship organisations and the specialist press and the tension between institutions and social movements that was reflected in the films screened. The encounter will feature Ruben Corral, ZINEBI programmer, Santiago Aguilar, lead researcher on the project, and Arrate Velasco, managing director of the EQZE.
Finally, three students from the school, Paola Buontempo, programmer at FESTIFREAK, the La Plata International Indie Film Festival and the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, Maui Alena, independent curator and project coordinator at the 7th Zinebi Professional Networking Forum 2024, and Louise Martin Papasian, member of the selection committee at FIDMarseille, will participate alongside Marion Czarny, director of the FIPADOC Campus, in the programmers’ encounter scheduled for 14 November.
