Colombian anthropologist and filmmaker, Manuel Mateo has a degree in Documentary Direction from the San Antonio de los Baños International School of Film and Television. With his film Ánima, he won
the Astor Piazzolla Award for best Latin American short film at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival. His audiovisual work Amanecerá has been recognised and screened by the Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano Foundation. His short film Oculta was screened in the Cinema of Urgency section at DocsLisboa 2021. He was in charge of production and sound for the documentary El Pastor, which gained an honorary mention at FICUNAM 2022. He is currently developing his short film Efemérides and teaches film studies to secondary school students. His creative interests centre around questions such as memory and political environmentalism.
