Juan Pablo Labonia (2024-2025)

Juan Pablo Labonia (Buenos Aires, 1996) graduated as an image and sound designer from the University of Buenos Aires. In 2020 he studied the Film Programme at Torcuato Di Tella University.

He produced, among others, the short films En el mismísimo momento, by Rita Pauls and Federico Luis, which premiered internationally at the IDFA’s Official Short Film Competition in 2023 and won the award for Best Documentary Short Film; and Cómo ser Pehuen Pedre, by Federico Luis, which will premiere internationally at the Official Medium Length and Short Film Competition of Visions du Réel in 2024.

In 2021, he founded his own film production company, RUIDO, through which he is producing Croma (currently in post-production), directed by Manuel Abramovich and with the support of INCAA (Argentina), Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (Germany), DAAD (Germany), IDFA Bertha Fund and Casa de Valázquez.

Through RUIDO, and together with Abramovich, he conceived and created DIP (Documentary, Intimacy and Staging), an annual online training and refugee support programme for artists and filmmakers from across the globe which has already run for five editions.

In addition to his work as a producer, he is a founder, producer and programmer for RABIA, a film festival dedicated to the identity, memory and social reality of Latin American societies. RABIA is held each year at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires and has already run for six editions.
