I discovered documentary writing when I worked at the Cinémathèque de Tanger. I decided to pursue this work when I enrolled for the Master’s in Documentary Filmmaking at the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences of Abdelmalek Essaâdi University in Tetuán. Through my experimentation with different media, from analogue and numerical techniques to writing and archiving, I developed an interest in hybrid documentary writing using codes from other artistic programmes, to find what is real and to try document it.
Driven by my desire to transmit experimental film languages, I created the platform Osfour, named after Mohammed Osfour, who is considered to have been the first Moroccan filmmaker. The platform continues to develop with the aim of listing Moroccan works that rarely make it to screens or film distributors.
