Hypothesis 2025
Presentation of the final master\'s theses for the 2024-2025 Academic Year
"The Time of Hypotheses" is the event in which the Master's students of the three specialties of Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola —Film Archive Studies, Film Curating Studies and Filmmaking Studies— exhibit the works they have developed throughout the course.
The concept of the cinema hypothesis refers to various pedagogical projects based on imagining the cinema of the future. We must specifically refer to the Ipotesi Cinema school founded by Ermanno Olmi and Paolo Valmarana in 1982 in Bassano del Grappa (Italy) and the book, L’Hypothèse cinéma: Petit traité de transmission du cinéma à l’école et ailleurs, by Alain Bergala published in 2002.
As a tribute to these two significant initiatives, at this school, we refer to the pieces of work produced by students, which in themselves are a projection of cinema towards the future, as hypotheses. During “Hypothesis Time”, the students expose or present their film hypotheses in public. These proposals, projects (mostly incomplete and ongoing), take diverse forms: plans and actions for the restoration and preservation of audiovisual heritage, research projects, editorial and film programming proposals, exhibitions and installations, films in development, as well as all the works completed throughout the course.
This program approaches cinema from all fields and prefigures dozens of paths, ranging from the academic to the creative, to explore the geography and history of cinema. All the paths of cinema in two weeks.
