Hypothesis 2024 (Seventh day)

"Latitudes: Cartografía de los festivales de cine en América Latina" (Héctor Antonio Márquez Baca)
12/19/2024
10:15 19:00
  • Place: EQZE Zinema
Presentations of final master's theses

"The Time of Hypotheses" is the event in which the Master's students of the three specialties of Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (Film Archive Studies, Film Curating Studies and Filmmaking Studies) exhibit the works they have developed throughout the course.

These proposals take different forms: plans and works of restoration and preservation of audiovisual heritage, editorial and film programming proposals, films in development, exhibitions and installations, research projects, and, of course, all the works completed during the course.

This program approaches cinema from all fields and prefigures dozens of paths, from the academic to the creative, to travel the geography and times of cinema. All the paths of cinema in two weeks.

HYPOTHESIS 2023-2024 Academic Year

Program:

10:15-11:00 The Ethereal Rainbow (or how much it must rain to see it everywhere) (Nicholas Nahuel Turchi)

FILM PROGRAM

‘The Ethereal Rainbow’ is an attempt, an approximation, a theory about South African cinema. Does it exist? Does it have an identity? This is one of the possible answers.

11:00-11:45 El cine inclasificable como Punto de Vista. Diálogos con los directores artísticos del festival (Saioa Miguel)

PUBLICATION PROJECT

The text explores the importance of film festivals in the cultural dialogue, focusing particularly on the Punto de Vista festival and its artistic directors during its twentieth anniversary.

12:15-13:00 Mirentxu Loyarte eta Zestoako Topaketak: euskal zinema amaitu gabe baten bi zantzu (Andoni Imaz Pozueta)

RESEARCH PROJECT

An article about the unfinished (and unmade) nature of the work carried out by the filmmaker Mirentxu Loyarte and a project designed to initiate research into the Zestoa Film Encounters.

13:00-13:45 Esbozos para una memoria elástica (Jan Baeta)

PUBLICATION PROJECT

An exercise in repairing memory, in which text, image and testimonies intertwine to bend the narrative through story-making.

15:00-15:45 Sin título (Lucía Alonso Santos)

FILM

In the city, it is always night. There are no people, no life, yet movement never ceases. The machines work, tirelessly, keeping the city going; they produce, distribute, build and control the empty city. Meanwhile, in the darkness, in the emptiness, nameless faces sleep the sleep of disease. Lorries travel along dark roads while somewhere, in some unknown place, some people dance at a rave, waiting for the end of the world.

15:45-16:30 Efemérides (Manuel Mateo)

FILM

Near a hydroelectric dam, women knit to remember their dead. Souls emerge dressed in flowers to listen to the song that invokes them.

17:00-17:45 Libertimendua (Ekain Albite)

FILM

In a deep forest-lined valley, a man stands by a tree. A man we can barely see. Looking at the night.

18:00-19:00 Latitudes: Cartografía de los festivales de cine en América Latina (Héctor Antonio Márquez Baca)

Latitudes’ is a series of publications focused on Latin American film festivals that break away from the region’s programming canons.
