She studied anthropology at the University of the Andes (Colombia) and an MA in Ethnographic Documentary Film at University College London UCL. Throughout her professional career, she has focused on making essay films based on archive material, in order to investigate the politics of representation, the body and the gaze. She has made a number of short films, including Recordando el sabor del aguacate and Chontaduro Honey. With a view to strengthening internal creative processes in rural communities, she has worked as a research and communication consultant for the IDB, USAID, UN Women, ACDI/VOCA, the COMBI Institute, the Colombian Truth Commission, the National Council for Film Arts and Culture, the Secretariat of Culture of Bogota and national NGOs. She is currently the editorial coordinator for the Colombian Ministry of Culture’s new policy on audiovisual, sound and interactive media and is directing her first feature-length documentary, in which she questions the relationships of power, not only in anthropology and film, but also in social and political aspects of her private life.
