Born in Italy in 1999, Matteo Giampetruzzi studied film direction at the Gian Maria Volonté Film School in Rome (2019-2022). His short film Beati i puri di cuore (2022) has participated in festivals such as NUFF - the Nordic Youth Film Festival and Visioni Italiane (Cineteca di Bologna). He is currently in post-production of a collective 5-episode feature film made in collaboration with five other directors (graduation project). His projects are often oriented towards queer issues or explore imaginaries linked to masculinity, adolescence and sexuality. He is interested in both fiction and documentary, as well as in the liminal space between the two. He has participated in the Odense Talent Camp (Denmark) and the Documentary Summer School at the Locarno Festival, and has sat on the youth jury at the San Sebastián and Valencia (Cinema Jove) Film Festivals. Since 2020 he has worked as a short film programmer at the Rome Giornate di Cinema Queer.
