Martina Laruffa (2024-2025)

Martina Laruffa was born in Rome in 1999. She graduated from the Moving Image department of the Gerrit Rietlveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2023. Filmmaker and artist, her work spans between experimental film, painting, sculpure, writing, editing, set and costume design and sound.

In her work, she is interested in researching and appropiating aspects from classical literature, philosophy, folklore, hystory and science to fabricate new associations.
Her work dwells in the poetic frontiers between facts and imaginations.

During her studies, her short film Charming Thoughts was shown at the Eye Filmmuseum as part of the Eye on Art programme. The whirling quest of Giovannina was selected for Rialto for Short and shown in different festivals. Her graduation film What goes up comes around is currently being distributed by the Eye Filmmuseum and It will be shown in its expanded cinema version at the Drawing Centre Dippenheim during summer.

She is currently working on a commissioned film by the Douane Laboratorium of Amsterdam and attending BAL Film School.
