Born in Alloz (Navarra), in 2002, Ekhiñe Urra Unanua graduated with a diploma in Film Directing from the Basque Country Film School/Euskal Herriko Zinema Eskola, where, in addition to training as a film technician in a wide variety of roles, she also directed three short films, developed her idea in the collective feature film lab and completed a final year research project on cultural separation in film. In 2024, she was a youth juror at the 72nd SSIFF. She is currently studying Art History at the UNED, while at the same time taking the course Imagining Realities: Authorship in Documentary Film at the UAB. Her career has prompted her to develop a growing interest in the possibilities offered by film beyond conventional production models, embracing an approach based on community, craftsmanship and the exploration of new ways of thinking and making films, seeking to break down the boundaries between artistic disciplines and between audiences and creators.
