Julieta Acuña García (1999) studied Film and Television at the University of Chile, specialising in directing and screenwriting. Her first short film, Baldías, received support from the Chilean Audiovisual Fund and is currently in distribution. In 2024, she wrote and directed her second short film, Abajo, en la tierra, which will complete its post-production this year and is currently awaiting release. In 2025, she was awarded a grant from the Audiovisual Fund in the Screenwriting category for her first feature film. She has worked as assistant director on multiple national productions by renowned Chilean directors, as well as on various independent projects. Her interests as a filmmaker focus on exploring the intersection between desire and violence in the body, as well as their relationship with the landscape. Through stories that interweave fiction and visual and narrative experimentation, she seeks to explore a type of cinema that turns its gaze towards the tactile.
