The AZTARNAK series bids farewell by opening a vanishing point

This last block sets out to imagine the horizon: to dream of spaces and times, and to imagine different ways of inhabiting our landscapes. Throughout the year, the series has turned to fabulation and the creation of other worlds; now it seeks to learn how to look at the ways in which our own world dreams and transforms itself.

The block opens with the bewilderment of chile (Lucía Seles, 2025, Argentina), a wandering journey through the landscapes of La Plata. It continues with Last Things (Deborah Stratman, 2023, France), which portrays human evolution and extinction from the point of view of rocks, with stone becoming an archive. It closes with Trás-os-Montes (António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro, 1976, Portugal), a fable built from folk legends and from the landscape’s own voice, set in a rural, forgotten Portugal.

The screenings are free, subject to available seating, and will take place at the EQZE cinema, on the ground floor of the Tabakalera building, on Sundays 25 October, 29 November and 13 December at 6 pm.

AZTARNAK presents cinema as a space of exploration for imagining possible futures, drawing on the traces and signals that run through our present. The initiative was conceived and developed entirely by the students of EQZE’s eighth Film Curating cohort, and is the result of a shared working process.
