Alfredo Ruiz (2018-2019)

Alfredo Ruiz Arias was born in Mexico City in 1992. He studied Communication at the Intercontinental University and later studied at other institutions (National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), SOMA and University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC)) related to the History of Art, Latin American Art, curatorship, etc. Later, he studied Film Direction at the Mantarraya Film Workshop, where he made his first documentary feature film, Jondo. His video art piece Discurso de la Estabilidad won the 4th edition of the National University Video Art Competition - Visions of Art in 2014. In 2015, he curated the exhibition on artists exiled from the Middle East at the Ateneo Español de México (MEXILIO). His short film Conejo Blanco came second in the Short Film Corner at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and other world festivals. He is currently doing documentary work on traditional practices that have been forgotten, such as salt work in Mexico.
