Luciana Merino is a Chilean director and screenwriter. After graduating in Film and Television from the University of Chile, she has dedicated her work to exploring a hybrid cinema that brings into tension the margins of reality and its deviations. Her most recent short film Al sol, lejos del centro (Towards the Sun, Far from the Centre) premiered in the official selection of the Berlinale and the Teddy Awards and later in the Hong Kong Film Festival and FICCI.
Through experimentation with digital media her works push the limits of representation and her capacity to create new imaginaries. Her previous short film Apuntes para hacer un ZUM (Notes on How to Make a Zum) premiered on experimental film circuits such as NEMAF in Korea and FICValdivia in Chile.
She maintains a collaborative group in which she has participated as a screenwriter and researcher on projects that premiered at Visions du Réel, Clermont-Ferrand, FICCI and DocsMX, among other festivals.
