Camilo Restrepo's work is featured in one of the festival's main sections, where The Room of Shadows will be screened. The latest films by Laura Dávila Argoty, Julen Etxeberria, Mario Veloso, and Valentina Pelayo are participating in different competition sections.

The Mexican festival will dedicate part of its Umbrales section to Camilo Restrepo's work and screen some of his films, including The Room of Shadows, a project conceived and developed at the EQZE, and his latest work, 9/05/1982. The Umbrales section will also include the film Cuando ellas se fueron solo quedó un pequeño ruido en la montaña by Laura Dávila Argoty, a Filmmaking Studies student from the current intake year.
El tercer paisaje by Julen Etxeberria will be competing in the Aciertos: Encuentro Internacional de Escuelas de Cine section. In the same section, Mario Veloso, a Filmmaking Studies student from the 2024-2025 intake year, will present Lluvias de verano, a film made at the Escola das Artes – Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Both films will have their American première at the festival.
Finally, the festival’s Competencia Ahora México section will feature the world première of Deshilando luz, Valentina Pelayo’s debut film. Her previous project, Trazos de silencio, was included in the festival programme in 2022.
Regarding other activities, the festival will hold the Locarno Industry Academy México for the third year in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival. This section aims to promote exhibition projects. Eloísa Suárez, a student from the fourth intake year at the EQZE, will participate in this section with her project ‘Cine cauce’.
The fifteenth FICUMAN festival begins on 29 May and ends on 5 June.
