El tercer paisaje (Julen Etxebarria, 2024, 12 min.)
The fungus Microsphaerella dearnessi is infecting the Painted Forest of Oma, the land art masterpiece by Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola. The observation of the decaying forest enters into a dialogue with the film's celluloid, which is also treated as living matter and exposed to the passage of time, sharing the same material evolution.
Jauja (Lisandro Alonso, 2014, 110 min.)
The Ancients said that Jauja was a mythological land of abundance and happiness. Many expeditions attempted to find the place to verify this. Over time, the legend grew disproportionately. The only thing known for certain is that everyone who tried to find this earthly paradise got lost along the way.
Jauja is the story of a man's desperate search for his daughter, a solitary quest that leads him to an unknown place. The exploration of a paradisiacal territory becomes a spiral toward impossible frontiers, demanding that one return one's attention to the present if one wishes to inhabit a future.
AZTARNAK is a program organized by the Film Curating Studies students of the 2025-2026 Academic Year at EQZE.
