From an early age, Iker Reyes, born in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1999, developed a deep interest in the world of film, inspired by his father’s old cameras. He used VHS video cameras in his first forays into filmmaking, until he finally found his tool – a MiniDV digital camera – which he started using to document his life and family trips. In parallel to his Digital Engineering studies, he embarked upon a self-taught apprenticeship in filmmaking. Later, he graduated from the Basque Country Film School, specialising in Film Directing. He directed four short films during his training, exploring various cinematography techniques such as incorporating archive material into fiction film, experimenting with different visual languages, giving improvisation workshops with unscripted actors and processing out-of-field sound. In addition to his film work, he is a theatre actor and chess teacher.
