The Cinéma du Réel International Documentary Film Festival (22-29 March) will be hosting the première of REZBOTANIK, directed by Pedro Gonçalves Ribeiro, a Filmmaking Studies student at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, during the sixth intake year. This short film was selected alongside another thirteen documentaries to participate in the First Window section, dedicated to debut documentary films developed in the framework of film training programmes (film schools, universities, vocational training centres).

The Compétition section of the Parisian festival will also host the world première of Selegna Sol by Anouk Moyaux, who studied Film Preservation at EQZE during the sixth intake year. Developed prior to her time at the school, the film will compete in the section alongside 37 other works. Carlos Muguiro Altuna, Director of EQZE, will be part of this section's jury panel.

Cuban cinema recovered

‘Cuba, cinéma retrouvé’ (Cuba, recovered cinema), one of the special programs organized by the festival, will be held on 27 March. The program takes place for two sessions: ‘Cuba : Intérieur / Extérieur’ (Cuba: Inside / Outside), featuring screenings of El negro, Oración and L.B.J., three films that were restored in the framework of the research project ‘Second Hand’ carried out at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola; and ‘Cuba : Souterrains’ (Cuba: Underground), featuring five films digitised by the Archivistas Salvajes collective, made up of EQZE students.

The selection includes films produced by the ICAIC (Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos), Cuban filmmakers in exile, and extra-institutional works made within the prolific Cuban film club movement framework.
