Maider Oleaga has a degree in Audiovisual Communication and Film Directing (ECAM), and in 2014, completed a Master’s Degree in Feminist and Gender Studies at the University of the Basque Country. She has written and directed several non-fiction films, including Muga deitzen da Pausoa (2018), with which she was selected for the artistic residency programme Ikusmira Berriak, Verabredung (2017), which won the Doc España section at the SEMINCI, and Esperanza (2012). Her latest documentary feature, Kuarkt Valley (2021), premièred at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it won the prize for Best Basque Script awarded by the Basque Scriptwriters’ Association, and earned a special mention in the Irizar Awards. She has also directed part of the collective film Gure Oroitzapenak (2018) and the fictional short films Neoi argiak ederrenean, Sitios prestados al aire (Mexico, 2010), which won the Short Film Project Competition at IMCINE (Mexico), Kinka (2021), which premièred at ZINEBI and won the prize for the Best Basque Script, and Irrits (2022), which was selected for the Kimuak catalogue. She has participated in many different educational projects, including Cinema en Curs, Zineleku and Sortegiak, among others. She also lecturers regularly at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU).
