Inés Toharia

Filmmaker and researcher

Inés Toharia is an independent researcher and filmmaker. After studying literature and film, she earned a Master’s in Creative Documentary from the UAB and won a grant from La Caixa to train in audiovisual creation in the UK. She later became a Fulbright scholar, specialising in film preservation, at the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation (USA). She has directed documentaries and shorts and has worked at different film archives, as well as in several preservation projects (USA, Mexico, UN, Spain). She collaborated in setting up FiSahara (the International Western Sahara Film Festival) and has curated a number of different screenings and exhibitions. She has written about the history of cinema, has covered various international festivals and has taught classes and workshops. Her latest documentary was screened in 30 countries and reflects international efforts to preserve audiovisual heritage.
